If you want read-write access to the Mac volume, then you will need a third party utility like MacDrive from Media Four, or HFS+ for Windows from Paragon.

the driver still works perfectly on my intel mac running catalina.

The driver provided by Boot Camp provides read-only access to the Mac volume. although on the paragon website it says that the driver is compatible with M1 macs, i have been unable to mount my Western Digital drive on big sur and an M1 mac. If you have installed Boot Camp, then that driver should get installed automatically when you install the Windows Support files. When running Windows, you will need to install a driver for the HFS+ partition so you can access it. Paragon NTFS for Mac is fully compatible with Apples new security policy ensuring fast, hassle-free and safe access to NTFS partitions from macOS 10.12 Sierra. If you don't have a Fusion Drive on your Mac, (you only have one drive, or if you have more than one drive, they are not fombined into one larger logical drive, then you should be able to access the Mac volume form Windows. If your Mac has an Apple Fusion Drive (an SSD and an HDD "fused" together to make one large volume) then you can not access the Mac volume from within Windows. If you are among the users trying the new macOS 12.0 Monterey Beta, download and install the Paragon NTFS for Mac Monterey Preview and use it for free until macOS 12.0. Paragon Ext2/3FS for Mac OS X is distributed in two ways: Boxed package from Paragon Technology GmbH and resellers Downloadable package over the Internet at the company’s web-site The two contain a standard DMG disk image with an installation package to automatically install and configure the Ext2/3FS driver. It is available for free for a limited time only.

Are you saying I *can't* access my Mac partition from within Windows? For all macOS 12.0 Monterey Beta enthusiasts, Paragon Software has released a special early version of the famous NTFS for Mac. I'm not sure what you mean by "Core Storage volumes (Fusion Drives)".
